    Abu Dhabi Attractions

Until 40 years ago, Abu Dhabi, now the island capital of the United Arab Emirates, was a small fishing village. Transformed by oil revenues into a modern metropolis, today, it is a beautiful modern garden city, with wide tree-lined boulevards, lush green parks, and cool, bubbling fountains. However, parts of the old Abu Dhabi can still be seen in the Dhow wharf and fish market, in the north-east of the city.

    Cultural Foundation (Heritage)
    Khalidiya Street, Abu Dhabi

The Cultural Centre houses an art exhibition with displays changing each week, as well as a library, theatre auditorium and lecture rooms.

    The Corniche (Leisure)
    Corniche Road, Abu Dhabi

A park-lined coastal boulevard that skirts the city, with a backdrop of architecturally modern buildings that face the sea.

    Heritage Village (Heritage)
    Mussafa Road, Abu Dhabi

Situated in the middle of Abu Dhabi, the village is a living exhibition of the nomadic Bedouin life-style detailing a variety of local traditions, as well as those of other cultures employed in agriculture, fishing and trading.

    Souk (Market)
    City Centre, Abu Dhabi

At this traditional market, you can find small shops selling everything from gold jewellery to electronics.

    White Fort (Building)
    Al Nasr Street, Abu Dhabi

The White Fort is the oldest building in Abu Dhabi and was once the home of the ruling family. Now the building is the home of the Centre of Documentation and Research, which displays many interesting exhibits of traditional artifacts and photographs.

    Al Nasr Street (District)
    Al Nasr Street, Abu Dhabi

There are a number of antique shops and jewellery stores along this road where bargaining is positively encouraged.

    Breakwater (Leisure)
Opposite Abu Dhabi Corniche, Abu Dhabi

This is the best place in Abu Dhabi to watch the skyline and experience some local food. Be sure to visit the floating restaurants and pubs.

    Island Drop Off (Leisure)
Hotel Inter-Continental Abu Dhabi, Al Khalidya Street, PO Box 4171, Abu Dhabi

Enjoy a day on your own private island, with prearranged drop-off and pick-up times. Either let the hotel cater for you or take your own refreshments.
